Jen Kaye remixes new Calvin Harris & Ne-Yo track

22 May

Currently smashing up the UK Top 40 chart and proving really popular in my DJ sets is Calvin Harris’ huge new electro-houser “Let’s Go” featuring Ne-Yo.

As a fan of both artists, I was excited to put my production skills to the test when I saw Beatport Play & Pepsi release a remix competition for this track. The winner will get “an opening spot for Calvin Harris at the official Pepsi show in Ibiza, plus 6 days and 5 nights of beach, sun, and clubbing at the amazing Ushuaia resort. Kick in the mix with a DJ lesson from the DJ Academy at Ushuaia, football on the beach and a VIP party with Calvin Harris.”

So here it is… my remix of “Let’s Go”.

January update

31 Jan

Wow, hasn’t January flown by?! With New Years and Christmas a distant memory, we are now well on our way into 2012. Back in December I set myself a task to record a mix every month and I’m proud to say I’ve kept my promise. So here is my latest mix, the first in a new series of mixes called “Back 2 My House”. The next installment will be uploaded in February.

Event News:

My own event “2Faced” will be back in February for a love-themed party at Maison, Coventry. All the event details are on Facebook.

Also next month, I’ll be gracing the decks for the launch of new Coventry night Una Teka at The Lounge, which aims to bring a sexy, stylish house vibe with a balearic party atmosphere to the city.

What we’re all talking about:

The biggest news in DJ land this week has to be about Simon Cowell’s plans to produce a DJ talent show similar to the X-Factor. The general opinion amongst my DJ peers is that such a high profile TV show aimed at a mass audience will feature “the wrong type of contestants” and not real DJ talent. There is also the question of how can you possibly judge such a large DJ contest, assuming that all styles of DJing and music are considered. Until the details are released about the show, there’s not much more I can say, but funnily enough I’ve just read today that London-based production company Free@Last TV are planning a rival contest “Superstar DJ” to take place over the summer in Ibiza.

So it looks like DJing will be getting a lot of recognition in 2012 which is a great thing in itself whether you enter these DJ contests or not.
But you know what they say… “you’ve got to be in it to win it”. Watch this space!

Mix of the Year 2011

31 Dec

What better way to finish off the year than rounding up all my absolute fave house tracks from 2011 into one mix. It’s a very personal mix of those tunes that have been on repeat constantly and never get boring. I only wish I could have recorded an even longer set as it was soooo hard to condense it down into 70-odd minutes. The mix includes tracks by Ray Foxx, Switch, Erick Morillo, James Talk & more. Interested? Then head over to my Facebook page and click on the “FREE 2011 Mix Of The Year” tab on the left.

Hope you enjoy, and please share the love by recommending the mix and my Facebook page to your friends x

Autumn/Winter 2011 mix

7 Dec

It’s been quite a while since I recorded my last mix, back in August in fact. So here is my latest mix of some of my favourite vocal house tracks of the moment and from the last few months…

I’m going to make it my New Year’s resolution to [try to] record a mix every month. So now I’ve put that out there, I’m gonna have to stick to it! Hopefully you will enjoy my latest offering, feel free to comment or get in touch if you like what you hear. Plus, don’t forget to follow me on Facebook and Twitter for more regular updates.
